Welcome
As part of our drive to further improve our service, by the time the next ezine is published each customer will have been contacted by their dedicated point of contact within the Buying Solutions Utilities team.
One of the issues they are discussing with you concerns the data we are currently holding about each organisation. We will be sending you a copy of this for you to confirm or update as necessary.
This process will help us to ensure that we only buy energy for the sites we have validated as being part of your portfolio - and you will only pay for the energy you need.
Meanwhile we have also acted upon our commitment to provide more flexibility within our purchasing model to take maximum advantage of favourable market conditions and to manage your energy price risk as effectively as possible.
As my colleague Richard Murphy explains in more detail in his market report within this edition, customers now have the option to buy up to 42 months ahead, which is a major improvement on the previous sixth month cycle. This move is already paying dividends for our October half-hourly electricity customers for whom we have already begun purchasing.
You will also find a list of dates and venues for our full 2009 roadshow programme in this edition.
Hopefully these three topics provide you with the added confidence to know, when we make commitments in these areas, as we did in our December edition, that we will deliver on those commitments.
If you would like to speak to me on any issue at all, please e-mail energy@ogcbs.gsi.gov.uk.
Best wishes
Mark Robinson
Utilities Category Director
