"We fully understand that the latest significant energy price rises are continuing to make budget management complicated for our customers.

"Whilst the unprecedented turbulence in the markets has surprised even the most experienced traders, there is hopefully some comfort to be drawn from the fact that being part of the Buying Solutions procurement model has gone some way to protect our customers from the worst the market has thrown at us in recent months.

"Believe it or not some public sector organisations buying their energy from other sources have faced even higher price rises! But please be assured that it will soon be our turn to enjoy the benefits of the current collapse in prices - and we are well placed to take full advantage when the time comes.

"We are totally committed to the principles of our flexible procurement model - so much so that we are currently planning to extend our purchasing window to enable us to take full advantage of low prices by buying in advance of our six month window - perhaps as far forward as three years.

"Other initiatives that I am personally committed to include a comprehensive customer contact programme and a published year ahead calendar of events that enables you to choose when you would like to come and join us at our popular roadshow and round table forums.

"I am totally convinced that we will only get to customer service excellence by being much more proactive and sensitive to our customers' issues and requirements.

"My aspiration is to get to a position where our customers are our most persuasive advocates. I know we've got some way to go but I do hope you will join us on the journey ahead.
